Nigella sativa which is also called black cumin or Kalonji, is one of the oldest plants to be used medicinally. In Arabic folk medicine the oil extracted from the black seeds were given to treat chronic coughs and to help ease the symptoms of asthma, by adding five to fifteen drops of the oil to tea and taken three times a day.
